Describe Your Garden Coaching Practice:

How I can help:

By performing an on-site evaluation of your property and your plants, and identifying diseases or practices that may be causing plant problems.

By imparting ways you can remediate and prevent garden problems.

By helping a new homeowner get over the hump of not knowing where to begin. By imparting how to care for a builder-installed landscape. This alone could save a new homeowner $6000 in lawn replacement cost.

Many gardening web sites are available that describe how to prune, etc. but nothing compares to hands-on learning. This is most important with rose pruning.

I provide recommendations on outdoor space planning, offering creative renovation suggestions for aging landscapes.

Design Mode:

Believe that some of the most difficult spaces can become the highlight of your space through great design. Beginning with a foundation, so even in winter the garden has something of interest. Use low maintenance native or adaptive plants and incorporate as many herbs and vegetables in the landscape as possible (if organic gardening methods are used). Space plan for a vegetable garden when possible and desired.

After determining if my services meet your needs via a few phone and email conversations I’ll send you a questionnaire. The questionnaire is a great help in determining your garden needs. We will then set up an on-site consultation appointment. Most garden on-site guidance can be completed in a one to two-hour session. If a drawn design is needed the specifics can be discussed and one can be provided at a follow-up appointment.

What else you should know about me:

I just love the smell of the earth and adore garden spaces and gardening. One of my earliest fond garden memories is of finding that snap dragons actually snap open and closed if pressed gently in just the right place. Maybe that is why before attending college I worked as a floral designer. Mentally rearranging just about anything has been a favorite hobby for as long as I can remember.

I am a Native Texan who has lived in many other parts of the country. In every location I have found myself I have taken part in the local horticultural offerings. I completed plant propagation courses with the University of Georgia and a Landscape Design course through the New York Botanical Garden in NYC. I attended the Master Gardener training in two states. I know what it is like to move to a new area and have to start all over with unfamiliar plants, soil and weather. As a gardener with a science background I am constantly seeking new gardening knowledge.
