Welcome to the new Garden Coach Directory! If you are an experienced gardener who is interested in helping other people learn, you have found the right place.

Before you create an account, there are a few things you need to know about our site:

  • The new Garden Coach Directory is on a wiki platform. That means that you can edit all kinds of spaces and pages. After our initial enrollment, we will likely lock some of the pages for safekeeping of the information.
  • Right now, only members of our wiki can change things up.Please be respectful of other people's information and do not edit any profiles other than your own.
  • Please do not add or delete widgets to any of the site pages, except your own profile.
  • Because this is a community-managed site, technical support is limited. Should you encounter a problem, your best bet is to start at the WetPaint Help site. If you are unable to find an answer, your moderators Robin and Kathy, or your site administrators, Susan and Jean Ann are a potential source of help, too.
  • Choose your profile name carefully as it cannot be changed once it is selected. We recommend using something that identifies who you are, such as your name or the name of your business.
  • Enter in birth dates and other information carefully. We (the site owners and administrators) can't go in and make changes in the security settings of your profile.
  • If you make your profile invisible, it is invisible to the whole site, including the administrators.
  • Please do add links back to your home site from the directory and please display a visible link to the directory on your home page.
  • YOUR ENTRY should be a short one on the appropriate state or country page (5-10 lines, with a small photo), and include a link there to your own individual profile page, which can be as long as you want.
  • Add your entry AFTER the previous entries. Right now, we are on a first come, first listed format. We will explore ways to highlight different coaches in the future...please do not change the order of the registered users on the pages.
  • Tip: In order to add your name to the state page, just click the easy edit button go down to the last entry and hit enter. This will allow you to add another entry.
  • Be sure to add a profile photo and feel free to add photos of your garden or client's gardens. We have a widget on the front page that scrolls through all uploaded photos...and they add a personal, welcoming feel to your profile!

We are so pleased that you have joined us! We look forward to working together as a community to build a strong site and educate others about our profession...

pamelagreenthumbs Coaching and caring for the environment the organic way 0 Mar 21 2012, 10:17 PM EDT by pamelagreenthumbs

I am happy to see our gardens methods changing with more care and concern for our environment, reducing toxic methods such as pesticides, herbicides and other harmful so called "safe for the environment" products. With this attitude change we are challenged in new ways to help reduce unwanted weeds and agressive plant predators. Coaching home owners on the value of soil health, and the ways to make things better without using bandaid methods to solve problems is rewarding and beneficial to not only my customers but the environment.
Reducing kitchen waste through vermicomposting and producing the best soil available for your garden is also another avenue I'm happy to coach customers on.

Ncalcoach How to keep your landscape looking better all the time 0 Feb 19 2012, 11:31 PM EST by Ncalcoach

So many design shows, so many landscape designers and landscape architects, and so little advice about how to keep it looking pristine when the installation crews walk away. Yes, you can hire someone to care for it, but how will you know if they are really taking care of it correctly? Round mounds are not the natural from of most plants. I've been out there watching and doing professionally since '79 and I know it is not that difficult to have a beautiful garden if you have a coach give you some help. There is no such thing as a 'black' thumb, there is only knowing what to do - and why.

TSkelton Sustainable continued #2 0 Nov 5 2011, 2:16 AM EDT by TSkelton

I recently watched a local Sonoma based Landscape company plant (17) 2-gallon Pink Carpet Roses in an area that was 6' x 12' in a new commercial site in Sebastopol California. Each with a potential of 60+ square feet. The whole idea here is fill the space fast with no thought of the future. This design has no future and the designer should be quietly counceled.
Sustainable, keep up with the concept. And us Garden Coaches are here to help. Look us up !!
Cheers and Good Gardening!!
